 idea of an oxwagon camp was the dream of Gerhard Wille, who started the first camp in 1985 in Natal and then moved it to Ficksburg. Gerhard and Reinette Wille love sharing their heritage and wabi sabi with all their visitors.
Their children Lizanne and Ollie Esplin live in Clarens. They are the owners of Clarens Xtreme and are involved with adventure tourism. Starting the camp in Clarens is an extension of their involvement in tourism in the Free State. Brad and Ernestine Goldblatt the owners of the beautiful St Fort Country House are well known residents of Clarens and the oxwagon is their newest endeavor.
